The Basics!
A Tarot deck contains 78 Cards total, consisting of 22 Major Arcana cards and 56 Minor Arcana, the latter of which is split into four separate suits, with 14 cards each, corresponding to the four elements: air, earth, fire, and water. Each card is equipped with a beautiful illustration, deeply coded with messages and insight.
The Major Arcana captures 22 complete archetypes that represent strong, powerful and direct themes relating to the character or aspect portrayed. The Major arcana doesn’t mince words or mess around; when these forceful archetypes arrive, their message is loud, and cannot be ignored.
The minor arcana contains cards Ace-10, as well as four court cards for each of the four suits, conveying less specific themes corresponding to numerological or situational aspects, and other symbols. The Court cards also depict less severe archetypal themes. The minor arcana can be a great tool to deepen context and understanding for the more domineering Major arcana. Depending on which deck you happen to be looking at or using, the suits and court cards—and even some of the major arcana— may differ. For example: in the deck I use for client readings, The Wild Unknown, the suits are: Swords(Air), Pentacles(Earth), Wands(Fire), and Cups(Water); and the Court cards are (highest rank to lowest): Father, Mother, Son, and Daughter.
When offering a tarot reading, I first begin by shuffling all 78 cards together, intentionally considering the questions we want to answer, and imagining that energy channeling into the cards. I then cut and restack the deck. This is when the cards are now laid out, one by one, face down in a Spread. A tarot spread is the specific pattern in which the cards are laid out on the table; each position of each card in the pattern generally represents a different category or aspect of the answer we will be discovering; spreads can be intuitive or planned according to the situation. Once the spread has been completed, I then turn over each card to reveal its message. Then, collaborating with you, I interpret the themes of the cards and how they apply to the focus of the reading!
That’s the bulk of the technical know-how of a Tarot Reading! I love to discuss tarot, and I love to find others pursuing the craft; if you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

How Tarot Works for/with Me
Some very biased ramblings about magic cards for those inquiring minds✨:
Tarot is an interpreter of inner voice. It’s the holder of the answers to the questions you’d hardly dare— or think— to ask. The tarot opens the purest line of communication we can have with ourselves.
I believe in prayer, in all of its forms(meditation, worship, spells, blessings, manifestation, etc.). We all have access to some resource to reach up and out to something greater than us in times of need and in moments of quiet. Tarot holds the same sacredness to me, with the key difference being that tarot brings us inward, into individual holy reflection.
When we go searching for answers, we already possess them, and I believe we simply aren’t auto-equipped with the tools to communicate with ourselves at the level necessary to receive them; but with lots of practice and the right tools, this connection can be tapped into, discovered, and interpreted. Tarot is my tool. It’s a spiritual practice that relies on the honed skills of openness and a willingness to receive without judgement or rationalization, it’s a challenge in unfolding untold stories through energetic collaboration; I nurture these assets in order to be a trusted resource to you. Basically… I’m gonna do the hard work, so you don’t have to! Just come as you are, and allow yourself be found, healed, and humbled through tarot, as I have (and do!) time and time again. Within my practice, I feel like I’m able to be the connection and interpreter between the unheard parts of you, and the truths waiting to be revealed deep within you.
Whether you have a daunting question that you can’t find an answer to, you’re looking for direction in your life, if you’re feeling confused or scrambling, or just looking to explore an avenue of communication and art that you haven’t before, I want to be a part of your growth! 🖤
